About the 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship at Tsinghua University
The CGS at Tsinghua is a fully funded postgraduate scholarship sponsored by the Government of China and administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). It supports international students seeking to undertake graduate studies or research in China, promoting academic cooperation and global exchange.
Application Windows:
* CGS Type A (via embassies/government bodies): Late November 2025 – February 2026
* CGS Type B (Tsinghua University’s Chinese University Program): Based on Tsinghua’s internal selection schedule.
Pre-admission is strongly recommended before 15 December 2025 to avoid missing CSC deadlines.

Eligibility Requirements (CGS Type B – Tsinghua University Route)
Applicants must:
1. Be a non-Chinese citizen in good health.
2. Hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 for Master’s programs.
3. Hold a master’s degree and be under 40 for PhD programs.
4. For Chinese-taught programs:
- Provide HSK Level 4 or proof of a Chinese-taught academic background.
5. Obtain pre-admission from a Tsinghua department or school, which must also recommend the applicant to CSC.
6. Not hold any other scholarship for future graduate study at Tsinghua.
7. Meet specific departmental CGS Type B conditions, including program requirements and nationality considerations.
Important Deadlines for 2026–2027 Admission
* Pre-admission at Tsinghua:
Recommended deadline: 15 December 2025. Missing this date may make it difficult to meet CSC Type B submission timelines.
* CGS Type A (Embassy Route):
Generally late November 2025 – February 2026, but applicants must confirm exact dates with their local embassy or national authority.
Only applicants recommended by Tsinghua departments will be forwarded to the CSC for final evaluation. CSC will then release the results directly to Tsinghua University.
