The Federal Government of Nigeria invites young, passionate Nigerians to apply for the 2026 National Health Fellows Program. This 12-month fellowship offers participants an opportunity to contribute to the improvement of Nigeria’s health sector through training, fieldwork, and mentorship. Fellows will gain hands-on experience in community health development and public health administration.
Program Details
The National Health Fellows Program is an initiative of the Government of Nigeria, implemented through the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (SWAp Coordination Office) under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
The program aims to:
* Upgrade existing Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) nationwide.
* Construct over 8,800 new PHCs across all local government areas.
* Enhance accessible and quality healthcare delivery.
* Introduce social accountability mechanisms within the health system.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the National Health Fellows Program 2026, applicants must:
* Be between 25 and 35 years old.
* Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, IT, or social sciences.
* Demonstrate interest or experience in public health, health-related NGOs, partner organizations, or community projects that show leadership and initiative.
* Be available full-time for the entire 12-month duration.
* Be an indigene of the state where they are applying.
* Possess a smartphone with data capability (for WhatsApp, Zoom, etc.).
* Provide a recommendation letter from a University Dean, NYSC PPA supervisor, or a respected organization attesting to character and leadership.
* Demonstrate analytical skills and entrepreneurial drive.
