The Archivi.ng Fellowship 2026

The Archivi.ng Fellowship 2026 is now open for applications!

This six-month fellowship is designed for storytellers, researchers, and technologists working to make sense of Nigerian history using archival materials. Fellows will receive funding, mentorship, and publishing support to complete impactful projects that inform, provoke, or inspire.

For this cohort, the fellowship will explore the theme:

The More Things Change”: a two-year inquiry into Nigeria’s recurring patterns.

Whether you’re investigating policy cycles, building tools that reframe economic memory, or telling untold stories of everyday Nigerians, your work will help illuminate how the past continues to shape the present.

Requirements

The fellowship seeks ambitious and accessible projects that:

1. Are rooted in archival materials (newspapers, magazines, audiovisuals, or other sources)

2. Aim to help people understand patterns and cycles in Nigerian life

3. Can be completed within 6 months and led by individuals capable of taking full ownership

4. Are welcome even if work has already begun

Fellowship Tracks

1. Storytelling: For creators producing compelling narratives that connect the past to the present, in any format.

2. Research: For individuals conducting rigorous analysis and offering insights that help people see Nigeria differently.

3. Technology: For innovators building tools or interactive experiences that turn archives into accessible public resources (e.g., timelines, digital platforms).
