In partnership with the African Leadership University (ALU), the Mastercard Foundation is offering fully funded scholarships for prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students across Africa.
The ALU Mastercard Foundation Scholarship provides full financial coverage for:
* Tuition fees
* Accommodation
* Living stipends
* Travel costs
* Study materials (including a laptop)
About the Scholarship
The African Leadership University Mastercard Scholarship aims to empower promising young leaders from Africa who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and a passion for the continent’s development but face financial or economic challenges.
The African Leadership University (ALU) offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs through an innovative learning model that integrates real-world experience and encourages students to take ownership of their learning journey.
Since the partnership began, ALU has enrolled 768 Mastercard Foundation Scholars, with:
* 68% being young women
* 19% (147) being refugees or displaced persons
* ~1% being young persons with disabilities
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the ALU Mastercard Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
* Be a citizen of an African country
* Demonstrate financial need
* Show leadership potential and commitment to community development
* Be passionate about the development of Africa
* Apply for an undergraduate or postgraduate program at ALU
Scholarship Benefits
The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship covers the full cost of study, including:
* Tuition fees
* Living stipends
* Travel expenses
* Accommodation
* Laptop and study materials

3. Once your application is complete, you will automatically be considered for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.
