* Hold a university degree and professional experience from their home country
* Intend to pursue a Master’s, PhD, or post-doctoral research project (2–6 months for established lecturers) at a German university
* Be a Catholic Christian (or belong to another Christian denomination). Applicants from other religions may apply if recommended by Catholic partners and committed to interreligious dialogue
* Possess German language skills (KAAD may provide up to 6 months of language training in Germany)
