Swedish Institute Women in STEM Scholarship 2026

The Swedish Institute (SI) Women in STEM Scholarship welcomes women from countries in Africa and Asia who are passionate about leading change, tackling global challenges, and developing lasting solutions. The SI Scholarship for Pioneering Women in STEM provides full tuition coverage, a monthly stipend of SEK 12,000, and a travel grant of SEK 15,000 for selected candidates.

Scholarship Overview

The SI Scholarship for Pioneering Women in STEM is an academic scholarship for full-time, one- or two-year master’s studies in designated programs in Sweden.

The Swedish Institute invites women from 10 eligible countries in Africa and Asia to apply for this fully funded scholarship aimed at those ready to lead change in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the SI Scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM, applicants must:

1. Be a female citizen of one of the eligible countries:

Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, or Vietnam.

2. Follow the University Admissions process and be admitted to one of the eligible master’s programs on the day of the admissions announcement.

3. Apply for designated master’s programs in STEM, focusing on one or more of the core areas — Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.

Scholarship Benefits

The Swedish Institute Women in STEM Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity that includes:

* Full tuition fee coverage – paid directly by the Swedish Institute to your university at the start of each semester.

* Monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 – to cover living expenses during your study period.

* Travel grant of SEK 15,000 – a one-time payment (not applicable for students already residing in Sweden).

How to Apply 

1. Select a Master’s Program

Review the list of eligible master’s programs for the 2025/2026 academic year.

2. Apply through University Admissions

Submit your application between 15 October 2025 and 15 January 2026 via University admissions

Once you’ve applied for one or more eligible programs and meet the criteria, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship.

3. Notify SI of Your Application

Complete the “Pioneering Women in STEM – Confirmation of University Application” form to let SI know you’ve applied for an eligible program.

4. Wait for Notifications

   26 March 2026: Receive your University Admissions results.

   23 April 2026: Receive your Swedish Institute Scholarship decision.
