About the Scholarship
Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 University of Toronto Mastercard Foundation Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Scholarships. The Africa Health Collaborative has partnered with the University of Toronto to launch this doctoral scholarship, which is open to recent alumni and graduating students of Africa Health Collaborative partner universities.
The scholarships will be awarded to individuals who:
* Have demonstrated academic excellence in health-related disciplines.
* Show a strong personal commitment to return home and give back to their communities after their studies.
Requirements
To be considered for the University of Toronto Mastercard Foundation Scholarships, applicants must:
* Be a citizen and currently residing in a Sub-Saharan African country.
* Have graduated from a partner institution of the Africa Health Collaborative (see list on official website).
* Not yet have started doctoral-level graduate studies.
* Demonstrate academic excellence and leadership qualities during undergraduate and master’s studies.
* Be academically admissible to the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program.
* Show a commitment to return home during the last two years of the program to contribute to Africa’s social and economic development.

How to Apply
Step 1: Review the admission requirements for the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program.
Step 2: Register and attend one of the mandatory virtual info sessions (attendance at one is required; an optional Q\&A session is also available).
Step 3: Complete the Mastercard Foundation Doctoral Scholarship application. Successful applicants will be notified by November 1, 2025 if they qualify to proceed.
Step 4: Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to submit a formal application to the DrPH program at the University of Toronto (Dalla Lana School of Public Health). The deadline for this program application is November 22, 2025.
