The Southern Illinois University Scholarship is a graduate assistantship opportunity (Master’s or PhD) open to international students who want to study and conduct research in the USA. The Freshwater Ecology Lab at Southern Illinois University is currently seeking an outstanding M.S. or Ph.D. student to begin in Spring or Fall 2026.
The research project may cover various topics in freshwater ecosystems, including (but not limited to):
* Host diet nutrient content
* Parasites in a Daphnia-microbe host-parasite system
The successful applicant will be encouraged to design a project that aligns with their career goals, with the flexibility to explore alternative host-parasite systems or related areas of research.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Southern Illinois University Graduate Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
* Be highly motivated and independent.
* Hold a B.S. or M.S. degree in biology, ecology, zoology, or a closely related field.
* Demonstrate strong writing, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse group.
* Possess prior research experience (lab, field, or both), desirable but not strictly required.
