The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) is inviting applications for its 2026 Postgraduate Bursaries. This opportunity is aimed at contributing to the national goal of increasing the number of qualified postgraduates in science and engineering.
Eligible Fields of Study
Applicants must be pursuing postgraduate qualifications in any of the following areas (including but not limited to):
* Remote Sensing & GIS: Applied Remote Sensing, GIS & Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Geographical Information Systems
* Environmental & Geographical Sciences: Ecology & Resource Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Geology, Environmental Management, Geography with Remote Sensing and/or GIS
* Botany & Plant Sciences: Botany, Plant & Environmental Science
* Engineering & Technology: Computer Engineering, Computer & Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering
* Mathematics & IT: Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Information Technology, Information Systems
* Physics & Space Science: Physics, Space Science, Energy Studies
* Statistics & Data Science: Statistical Ecology, Computer Science, Information Systems & Remote Sensing
Application Requirements
Ensure you upload the following documents to be considered:
1. Full official university academic record (from 1st year up to final or midyear 2025 results).
2. Proof of funding:
- Undergraduate students: Official university student account statement or NSFAS funding letter.
3. Certified ID copy (certified within the last 3 months).
4. Masters & Doctoral students:
- A testimonial from a lecturer or proposed supervisor.
- A signed and dated draft proposal:
- Masters: Max 2 pages
- Doctoral: Max 4 pages

* Only students pursuing relevant science qualifications will be considered
* Minimum required academic average: 65% in your most recent year or examination
* Applicants must be 32 years old or younger
