University of Malta Fully-Funded MSc by Research Scholarship 2025

The University of Malta, in collaboration with the Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Science, is now accepting applications for a fully-funded Master of Science (M.Sc.) by Research position for 2025.

Research Focus:

This opportunity is tied to the exciting research project titled: “Investigating Malta’s Recent Seismic Activity and Development of Novel Tools for Earthquake Analysis”. The project is led by Dr. Matthew Agius, and the selected student will be trained in using specialised software such as SeisComP and ISOLA for earthquake location and analysis.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:

1. Meet the admission requirements for the Master of Science in Geosciences at the University of Malta.

2. Hold a Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in any of the following fields:

  • Geosciences
  • Physics
  • Earth Systems
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics

(Degrees in other science subjects, earth-related studies, or IT will also be considered.)

3. Show proficiency in programming (preferred).

4. Be in their final year of undergraduate study (conditional on successful completion of the program).

Scholarship Benefits:

* Duration: 1 year (Full-time)

* Start Date: September 2025

* Monthly Stipend: €500

* Tuition Fees Covered: Up to €400 for the first year for local candidates
