Erasmus University Rotterdam Opens Applications for the 2026 Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands, has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP). The scholarship covers tuition fees, airfare, health insurance, a monthly living allowance, and travel allowances for eligible candidates pursuing a master’s degree in development.

The JJ/WBGSP supports professionals from World Bank member countries who have relevant experience and wish to pursue graduate studies in development at top universities around the world. Selected scholars must return to their home countries after completing their studies to contribute to economic and social development.

Eligibility Requirements 

To qualify, applicants must:

* Be a national of a World Bank member developing country

* Not hold dual citizenship with any developed country

* Be in good health

* Hold a bachelor’s degree obtained at least three years before the application deadline

* Be employed in a full-time, paid, development-related role at the time of application

* Have at least three years of paid, development-related work experience after completing their bachelor’s degree (part-time experience may count - see FAQs)

* Hold an acceptance letter for the ISS MA in Development Studies program

How to Apply 

Step 1: Check your eligibility and ensure you meet all the listed requirements.

Step 2: Apply for academic admission (Deadline: March 1, 2026). Submit an application for unconditional admission into the MA in Development Studies program via the Erasmus application page before March 1, 2026. Apply on the application page

Step 3: Await further instructions. The ISS Admissions Office will contact you with next steps once your academic application is received.

Step 4: Submit your JJ/WBGSP application. Complete and submit the scholarship application online via the official portal.

Important Notes:

* All documents must be uploaded through the online portal; email or postal submissions are not accepted.

* Applicants may apply for only one master’s program under the scholarship. Multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
