About the University of Nottingham Developing Solutions Master's Scholarship
Established in 2001, the Developing Solutions Scholarship is the flagship master’s scholarship of the University of Nottingham.
It is specifically designed for students from Africa, South Asia, and other selected Commonwealth countries who want to make a real difference in the development of key economic, environmental, structural, social, or political sectors in their home nations.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the 2026 Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship, applicants must:
* Be domiciled in Africa, India, or one of the selected Commonwealth countries.
* Be classified as an overseas student for fee purposes.
* Hold an offer to start a full-time master’s (including MRes) program at the University of Nottingham for the 2025/2026 academic year.
* Be applying to a course in one of the following faculties:
- Faculty of Engineering
- Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
- Faculty of Science
- Faculty of Social Sciences
Scholarship Benefits
The University of Nottingham Developing Solutions Scholarship provides:
50% or 100% coverage of tuition fees for the selected master’s program.

Selection Criteria
Applicants will be assessed primarily on how well they:
* Demonstrate a vision and an actionable plan for developing a specific solution that addresses economic, environmental, structural, social, or political challenges in their home country.
* Connect their course learning outcomes to their proposed development impact.
After evaluating the alignment with the “Developing Solutions” ethos, applications will also be reviewed based on:
* Academic merit
* Motivation for studying at the University of Nottingham
* Achievements and leadership potential
