The African Union Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is inviting applications for the Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Program.
About the Program
The Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Program is designed to support aspiring public health leaders from Africa in acquiring advanced skills and competencies to strategize, manage, and lead transformative public health programs across the continent.
The program was launched by the African Union Commission on 25 May 2020 in partnership with the Kofi Annan Foundation, following its approval by the Governing Board of Africa CDC in March 2018. Fellows selected into the program will be senior public health professionals from African Union Member States who will contribute to and lead the implementation of a new public health order for Africa, while mentoring and developing the next generation of public health leaders.
Fellowship Benefits
The Kofi Annan Fellowship provides:
* Full access to digital and residential learning resources
* Travel support, insurance, and daily allowances during residential placements
* Software support for online learning
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Program, applicants must:
* Be a citizen of an African Union Member State
* Hold a postgraduate degree in a public health–related field
* Have at least 10 years of professional experience after obtaining a Master’s degree
* Be fully employed in a public or private health institution
* Demonstrate proven or potential leadership capacity
Required Documents
Applicants must be prepared to submit the following documents:
* Employer support letter confirming full participation
* Two recommendation letters
* Personal statement (maximum of 400 words) demonstrating commitment to public health and leadership vision
* Leadership challenge project proposal (maximum of 400 words)

* Visit the Africa CDC website and complete and submit the online application with all required documents
Selection will be conducted by an independent committee of experts from the African Union Commission, Africa CDC, and global partners. The process follows equal opportunity principles, ensuring representation of women and underrepresented groups.
