The AUC African Graduate Fellowship is a highly competitive fellowship programe designed for bright and motivated African students who wish to pursue a master’s degree at The American University in Cairo (AUC). This fellowship is fully funded and supports outstanding African students across various graduate disciplines at AUC.
Fellowship Overview
The American University in Cairo African Graduate Fellowship is awarded for a maximum duration of five semesters and one intervening summer session, subject to a semester-by-semester academic performance review. Each year, the fellowship is offered to non-Egyptian African nationals for full-time graduate study (a minimum of nine credits per semester or as required by the programe).
For students in the Counseling Psychology graduate programe, the fellowship duration may be extended to a maximum of seven semesters.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the 2026 AUC African Graduate Fellowship, applicants must:
* Be non-Egyptian African nationals
* Applicants with dual nationality including a non-African nationality are not eligible
* Be open to all graduate disciplines offered at AUC
For new students:
1. Gain admission into one of AUC’s graduate programes
2. Meet all AUC graduate admission requirements
3. Submit a valid International TOEFL iBT or Academic IELTS score that meets AUC’s cut-off requirements
For continuing students:
Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 to retain the fellowship
Fellowship Benefits
The AUC African Graduate Fellowship covers:
* Full tuition fees (up to nine credits per semester)
* Monthly stipend
* Student services and activities fees
* Medical services and health insurance fees
* Monthly housing allowance or accommodation in AUC university residences (New Cairo campus)
* Possible coverage of remedial English language requirements, if applicable
