The MTN Foundation MUSON Scholarship seeks to attract high-performing, full-time students in public tertiary institutions in Nigeria (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education). It provides financial assistance to students who might otherwise be unable to pay for their tertiary education, while also recognizing and rewarding academic excellence.
About the Program
The scholarship is a Diploma in Music program for candidates passionate about the art of music. The To produce well-rounded, thoroughly educated musicians who can qualify for direct entry as transfer students into a university to complete their undergraduate music degree. The syllabus is patterned after Conservatoire standards, ensuring graduates are comparable to international music professionals.
Requirements
Academic:
* GCE O’Level with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, OR
* SSCE with a credit in English Language
* The 5 credits must be obtained in no more than two sittings before admission.
Music Qualifications:
* Practical: Grade 5 or higher certificate from MUSON School of Music or another recognized examining body.
* Theory: Grade 5 or higher certificate from MUSON School of Music or another recognized examining body.
Note: Applicants with outstanding practical ability but lacking theory requirements may be admitted on the condition that they take and pass a remedial theory course in the first year.
Additional requirements:
* All students must belong to the choir.
* Voice students must pass Grade 2 piano.
* Instrumentalists must pass vocal techniques.
* Orchestra participation is mandatory for string majors.
* Band participation is mandatory for wind and percussion majors.

* Duration: 2 years (full-time)
* Advanced training in Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Classical Guitar, and Voice.
Application Process
1. Apply via the official MTN Foundation MUSON Scholarship link.
2. Entrance examinations: September 3 – September 6, 2024
- Written exam: Music Theory (Grade 5 standard) & general music knowledge.
- Audition: Major instrument or voice at least Grade 5 standard before a faculty/jury.
- Oral interview.
3. Successful candidates will be invited for admission.
